Giant Prego Hobbit Feet

So still feeling great. No major complaints except feeling huge and not very graceful. Starting to get clumsy and forgetful, and my feet have started to swell up at the end of the day so most of my shoes don't fit anymore.

I now have a lovely new nickname (thanks to Heather, Jamie, and Ed for their combined efforts) "Giant Prego Hobbit Feet". I mean, my feet are rather short and wide anyway, with short little toes that are all the same length... but hobbit feet?

Hmmmm....Perhaps this could be my 2nd career... too bad all the Lord of the Rings movies are finished. But they do have the live version in Toronto.

Good or lucky?

Just had another check up with the Dr. I now have to start going every 2 weeks for the next few appointments and then EVERY WEEK. Its certainly a good thing I have such a flexible job.

I don't know if I'm doing something right or just lucky, but everything seems to be going great.

Here's the typical routine:

- Weight - check - good weight gain (although seems like a lot of weight to me!)
- Pee in cup - check - no problems (I think they're checking for sugar here?)
- Blood Pressure - check - perfect
- Baby Heart beat - check - all sounds great (although I don't remember the heart rate)
- Measure belly - check - perfect size (not sure exactly what they're measuring for here, but I asked if that could tell me how big the baby was and she said no)
- Any questions - nope - OK thanks for coming.

That's it. Easy Peasy. I think I'll have to stop with one baby, because there's really no where to go but down from here.

Again with the complements

So here's the latest.

Elevator Lady (and I use the term loosely): 'So when are you due?'

Me: ' Mid July. Still a little ways to go yet'

Elevator lady: 'Geez I don't think I ever looked like that even when I was ready to give birth!" (said with slight look of disdain)

EVER LOOKED LIKE WHAT?!?! Huge? Gorgeous? Tired?
People are rude. That's all there is to it.

Stroller vs. Car

I am now a complete expert in the features of a baby stroller. Just imagine what useful things were pushed out of my brain to make space for this information. However, I think this was one worth researching since it will be a major hassle to have a crappy stroller since I'm going to have to lug this thing around with me everywhere.

I also found my new favourite store. It is a small boutique store out in Bedford (about 20 min drive), called the "Royal Diaperer". It has med to high end stuff and the staff is amazing (despite the odd name)! This woman (Nicole - my new best friend) honestly spent 2 hours with Ed and I talking about strollers, how we would be using it, what the key features are, and letting us drive them all over the store to test them out. I will never go to WalMart again!!!

The first one I looked at was $1100. No, not a second hand car for me, but for a stroller. We quickly decided that was a bit out of our price range and started looking at a few others. In the end we got the "Peg Perego Aria" with the snap in car seat, in "Hip Hop Orange". Again - it's all about looking cool. Grand total was still a tad over $500 (including the car seat) but it only weighs 10lbs and folds up really small, and has shocks so I can take it off-road through parks and stuff.

Funny, the description really does read like a car...
- All - Wheel Suspension, swivel front wheels, rear wheel brakes
- Sleek Matte - Finished aluminum chassis
- Luxuriously Spacious Seat

So, I can now check that off my list. Only about 8000 things to go. :-)

Fore!

So I'm still feeling pretty great these days, even though I've passed the official 7 month mark. Definitely getting less agile, but still going.

This weekend I went golfing. Ed wasn't sure this was such a great idea, but I asked the Dr. if there was any concern with the twisting, and he said I would be fine. I'm certainly no John Daily when it comes to my 'power swing' so I think it was a safe bet!

I was a bit concerned that this big belly would make the game that much more challenging (as if I need more of a challenge than my existing non-athleticism!). However I actually think I played better! Perhaps the extra weight behind the swing coupled with a new center of gravity is just the trick! We only did 9 holes and it was an executive course (4 par 4s, 5 par 3s), but I walked the whole thing and pulled my own clubs. yeah me! (I'm all for the small victories these days). Check it out, I even had a cute golf sweater - and really, its all about the outfit!
